Hey there!

My name is Michaela, and I am honored to walk alongside you during this time. I am a Registered Clinical Social Work Intern in the State of Florida. I earned both my bachelor’s in social work and Master’s in Social Work from the University of South Florida with clinical coursework in individuals, couples, and family practice. I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings within the social work community including hospitals, churches, children's advocacy centers, and more. I believe that through my personal challenges, paired with my work experience in helping other walk through their own challenges, this gives me a unique lens to be able to have an empathetic perspective, helping client’s handle life’s transitions and struggles with grace and confidence.

Life isn’t always fair, and often times we don’t have control over the things that happen to us. However, I believe that we do have control in how we respond and react to those things. Together, we will take a deeper look into understanding just how powerful the human brain is and how your thoughts impact your behaviors and relationships with those around you. I believe that God created us to live in community, but sometimes we get in our own way. Let’s get back to the way God intended for us to live one step at a time.

I like to have a compassionate and individualistic approach to helping my clients live a life with a deeper understanding and purpose. While I am warm and friendly, I love to keep things practical and realistic. I work with individuals and couples struggling with adjustment issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder, cancer diagnosis’, grief, sexual abuse, and relationship issues.

I use variety of treatment modalities to help my client’s. However, I love using cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution focused modalities. I value the work that I do and am honored to work with my clients as I understand that it takes effort and vulnerability to get to this point.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two dogs, Kitty and Shirley. I also enjoy cozying up with a good book or being out in nature!
