Hi! I am Mandy!
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor with a Master’s of Arts degree in Counseling from Colorado Christian University in Lakewood, CO. I have worked for years in local private practice with clients across the lifespan. Before taking the leap to attend graduate school, I was an elementary school teacher at a local faith-based school for over 20 years. My background as a teacher has given me the privilege to work with many children and their families. My true love in teaching came from building relationships. The stories of joy, pain, struggle and growth influenced me to step into counseling.
I love being a therapist, but you might also call me a guide and partner as I work together with clients to traverse the difficult parts of life. I help people who want to learn more about themselves and the unique journey they are on, but perhaps got stuck or lost along the way. My goal is to support others in embracing hope, bravery and maybe even a sense of adventure so you can live life more fully. I know from my own path to wellness that coming to counseling is a sign of a courageous heart. I believe taking just one step forward will change your world. Now as I move into this new part of my journey at Restoration Counseling, my desire continues to be building relationships and giving people a safe place to explore the things that are impacting their life through a collaborative and flexible approach. I am a compassionate truth-teller, a question-asker and an intentional communicator. I make it my goal to offer empathy and strength to my clients to help them find clarity, healing and growth.
I counsel from a trauma-informed foundation. I was a student of clinical psychologist Dr. Larry Crabb and his teachings about counseling and spirituality including attending his school of spiritual direction. I have also received specific training in affair recovery, personality disorder testing and cancer care. In private practice I have worked with a variety of clients across the lifespan who have experienced issues such as sexual abuse, chronic illness, depression, anxiety, trauma, relational distress, cancer diagnosis and codependency. I also have experience leading groups focused on anxiety, sexual abuse, codependency and spiritual abuse. I enjoy working with kids, teens and adults as well as couples. I also enjoy helping parents as they navigate the difficult job of raising children.
My highest aim is to be a place of safety and grace for those struggling with emotional or relational challenges, where hard questions can be asked and explored, and no one is turned away. Finding the courage to begin counseling is an admirable first step in your path to healing. I look forward to meeting you there and starting this sacred journey towards wellness together.
