Hi, my name is Karlia!

I earned a Bachelor's in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Salem University and a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University while juggling an array of obstacles. My own experiences with loss, mistakes, and redemption have shaped my empathic perspective as a therapist and I consider these challenging experiences to be a valuable tool that has prepared me to connect with others who are struggling.

I have had a variety of experiences in the mental health field. After completing my Bachelor’s degree, I was a mental health counselor for a Juvenile Detention facility in Massachusetts, where I had the privilege to learn hands-on about the hurts, habits, and hang-ups of teenagers with a criminal history. I also worked as a paraprofessional teacher at an alternative school for middle/high schoolers for students with academic and emotional struggles. During my master's program, I worked at a Recovery center treating sex addiction, eating disorders, and substance abuse with clients of all ages.

I believe that it is always possible to turn a mess into a miracle when handled thoughtfully and realistically. I work with teenagers and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, self-esteem issues, disordered eating, and relationship issues; I also work with couples who are struggling or couples who just want to work on strengthening their relationship.  My passion is to help you achieve revelations during the session so that you leave the session with the skills to handle whatever life throws your way. There is only so much in life that we can control, but our experience of life depends on how we perceive our circumstances. Let’s decipher together why and where our thought processes come from, how these thoughts connect to feelings, and what these feelings cause us to do.

What makes me especially passionate about our practice is that our foundation lies in clinical psychology meeting with Christian values. Ecclesiastes 3:3 says there is  “a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build.”  Whatever season you are in spiritually, professionally, relationally, and mentally, I am here to meet you where you are and build you up the way Jesus did with everyone unconditionally.
